Nimrod Rubinstein, PhD

Gets the science right by doing it innovatively, rigorously, carefully, and thoughtfully.

Dr. Nimrod Rubinstein is an evolutionary geneticist who develops and applies statistical approaches to advance biological discovery and has authored more than 40 academic publications. During his PhD, he focused on developing and applying phylogenetic comparative genomics methods to study evolutionary relationships across species. In his postdoctoral work, he developed a Bayesian statistical framework to infer allelically biased gene expression, enabling new insights into genomic imprinting in the mammalian brain. He later spent nine years at Calico Life Sciences, where his research centered on understanding the evolution of the naked mole-rat immune system and its relationship to the species’ remarkable cancer resistance. During this time, he also investigated molecular signatures of aging across mammalian tissues and contributed to the identification of potential immuno-oncology drug targets.
